AMBULANCE HISTORY:

Bennett's Valley Ambulance has worked hard to maintain and to exceed the necessary training and equipment to provide professional quality emergency care and equipment for our service area and residents from 1968 to present. The following are just a few of the highlights that have occurred over our 50 plus years of dedicated community service.

Most recient we have upgraded our ambulances and we are very happy with them.

In 2013 we added a ranch style fence to stop truck turning, parking, and to better secure our entrance to the station.

We also obtained through a grant form Jay Township new monitoring equipment and pediatric safety equipment for transporting young children and new stretcher brackets. We also received a donation from EQT and Huston Township.
In 2011 & 2012 we have completed our flag pole project, emergency generator project, added a ADT security system and upgraded some of our equipment. We have also provided some community and professional CPR classes.

In May 2010 we had our  CPAP class and  now will be able to provide this new life saving procedure. CPAP helps patients when they are experiencing severe repertory distress. We are once again the only BLS service in the region to provide this life saving service.

On January 5th 2009 we started construction on our new building. This project will be on going for about 2 or more years but we will be able to move in once the building area is complete. We will then have a number of smaller projects to complete such as road work for the entrance, flag pole, signs, and landscaping etc.
In 2008 The Bennett's Valley Manager and Assistant Manager completed the highest level of NIMMS (National Incident Management System ICS. 300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents) required at this time. (NIMS has been designed to provide a comprehensive national framework for incident managers and responders). Training was provided through the Butler County Community College and the PA. Fire Academy.
In 2007 The Bennett's Valley Manager and Assistant Manager completed the NIMS Incident Command for the Fire Service and the IS-00700 program through the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center.

In 2007 Bennett's Valley Ambulance became one of the only BLS services in
Clearfield County to carry  EpiPen  Ejectors for use on patients with Anaphylaxis. We are only the BLS service in the Tri- County area to provide this service at our own cost.
In 2006 we trained and purchased equipment to perform our own claims billing which has increased our income. Claims are processed more timely and accurately with an improved collection rate of an estimated $25,000.00 per year. (Claims are processed through Medicare, Commercial Insurance Companies, Dept. Of Welfare, and others).
In 2005 Bennett's Valley Ambulance became a Pa. Department of Health Accredited Continuing Education Sponsor in order to provide educational programs for our staff and others close to home.
In 2000 and 2002 we replaced two Emergency Trucks that were 15 years old with new ones.
In 2001 Bennett's Valley Ambulance purchased equipment and received training in Basic Rigging for Rope Rescue from Bucks County Community College and the Pennsylvania Fire Academy.

In 1997 we were the first in Clearfield County to pick out and utilize a computerized trip sheet program (EMMA Program) for patient care documentation for Hospitals, Pa Department Of Health, and of course for our own records.
In 1996 Bennett's Valley Ambulance went from an all-volunteer service to a partially paid service with two full time career employees and of course volunteers. This helped insure that the service was properly managed and maintained on a day to day basis with regular office hours.
Bennett's Valley Ambulance completed the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Provider Program  and  purchased the newest equipment available on the market.

In 1998 the two Fire Departments obtained the Jaws of Life equipment for their rescue trucks and the Jaws owned by Bennett's Valley Ambulance was donated to one of the local Fire Departments
In 1985 Bennett's Valley Ambulance purchased a Jaws of Life that was to be carried and utilized by Ambulance Personal and Fire Department Personal for extraction of entrapped vehicle accident patients.

The Jaws of Life was carried by Bennett's Valley Ambulance due to the lack  of available equipment and staff for the two Fire Departments in the service area.

In 1982 Bennett's Valley Ambulance moved into and the Huston Township Municipal Building and setup a station of operation (Station 41).

In January 29th 1968 Bennett's Valley Ambulance filed a Decree of Incorporation in the Court of Common Pleas in Clearfield County.

Bennett's Valley Ambulance was approved on January 29th 1968 by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(C) (3) Tax Exempt Status Emergency Medical Service.
